Shifting the Lens Wins Sonoma County Tourism Innovation Award

We are honored to share that J and Shifting the Lens won the Innovation Award
at theSonoma County Tourism’s Stars of the Industry Awards.

This award acknowledges our work to push forward in developing an inclusive atmosphere and in promoting a greater level of diversity in all aspects of the wine industry. In a unique exploration of food and wine, Shifting the Lens invites chefs with diverse backgrounds to J for a two-week Bubble Room residency to showcase cuisines and perspectives that are rarely represented in wine country tasting experiences.

Shifting the Lens wins the Sonoma County Tourism Innovation Award!

Mexican-born and European-trained, Chef Castro’s global travels and desire to learn about different cultures and cuisines helped inform her culinary career — ultimately leading her to become one of Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs of 2022. Raised in Mexico City, her grandmother taught her to cook by instinct and instilled in her the importance of working in a healthy, relaxed environment. With a menu rooted in traditional Mexican cuisine passed down through generations — her “ancestral knowledge,” as she calls it — she hopes to share pieces of her life through every dish.

Join us in the Bubble Room Thursday-Sunday, September 14-24, while Chef Ana shares her unique perspective and stories that have inspired her cuisine. Guests enjoy a curated five-course tasting menu paired with small-lot sparkling and still wines crafted by Winemaker of the Year Nicole Hitchcock.

PAST CHEF EVENTS

Chef Tu David Phu returns to the Bubble Room for a unique culinary experience

CHEF TU DAVID PHU

A James Beard Award nominee, Top Chef contestant and a San Francisco Chronicle “Rising Star Chef,” Chef Phu’s accolades are just a glimpse into his brilliance in the kitchen. Bringing a personal take on Vietnamese cuisine to the table, Chef Phu’s menu was inspired by his own cultural and experiential journey. An Oakland-born, first-generation Vietnamese-American, Chef Phu finds that food is a vessel for meaningful work that can ultimately connect people on a personal, familial and human level. For Shifting the Lens, he built these connections with guests, leaving them with new insights into the importance of representation and how it shapes our culture.
