2014 Bow Tie Vineyard Pinot Noir
A combination of four clones, Bow Tie Pinot Noir offers layers of rich flavor for a memorable expression of this premier Russian River Valley vineyard. Clone 943 is fairly new on the Pinot scene, but has small berries with extremely concentrated dark cherry flavors. The Swan clone was actually established here in the Russian River Valley and contributes bright fruit notes with a moderate richness. Clone 667 adds structure, persistence in the mouthfeel and pure aromatics. Pommard brings floral and sage aromas and a subtle gamey character. Together, these clones create a distinct Pinot Noir with an incredible depth of character.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Bow Tie Vineyard is 100% Pinot Noir from four clones - 943, 667, Swan and Pommard. This was aged 13 months in French oak, of which 40% was new. It is a more limited production cuvée, but a deeper, richer, more primordial style of Pinot Noir with more dense fruit, more body, structure and depth. It offers plenty of black cherries and blacker currants in a medium to full-bodied, more Cote de Nuit style compared to its sibling. It should drink well for 4-5 years. This winery seems to have been infused with new energy and the results are better and more interesting wines since its acquisition by the Gallo empire. All of the sparkling wines come in at about 12.5% natural alcohol.
