Pinot Noir Cranberry Sauce

J Vineyards & Winery has been at the forefront of the wine and food experience since our first tasting program launched in 1999. All of the recipes have been created by our J Culinary Team to pair perfectly with our exceptional portfolio of varietal and sparkling wines.

12 oz fresh cranberries
Peel from 1 Naval orange
Juice from that same Naval orange
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Pinot Noir
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground allspice
3/4 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped

Step 1:  Combine orange juice, Pinot noir, and brown sugar into a sauce pot. Put over medium flame until the sugar dissolves.

Step 2:  Once dissolved add the cranberries, orange peel, salt, ginger, cinnamon, allspice and continue to cook over medium heat while stirring with a spoon.

Step 3:  Cook the whole mixture until the cranberries start to burst, which should be around 10-15 minutes. Once they start to burst open, take off heat and let cool down. The mixture will thicken as it cools.

Step 4:  You can serve this at any temperature you want to, but just remember sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top and open a bottle of Bow Tie Vineyard Pinot Noir!
