Our J California Pinot Gris begins with delightful aromas of roasted pineapple, candied lemon rind and honeysuckle. A warm year, 2015 created a rich, fruit forward wine with ripe flavors of zesty orange, tangerine and Asian pear. The palate is complex with notes of honeydew, jasmine and a sliver of minerality.

In 2015, California generally had a short, mild growing season with very dry weather. These conditions coupled with constant coastal breezes provided the perfect combination of elements to produce ripe fruit flavors and a crisp acidity in our Pinot Gris.
Following hand-harvesting, we selected whole grape clusters that we then pressed gently using Champagne press cycles to minimize extraction of harsh components from the skins and seeds. Wine from each appellation was divided into lots and exposed to a variety of yeasts, then fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. To preserve the freshness of the fruit and layered floral aromas, the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation. Following primary fermentation, we aged vineyard lots separately in stainless steel tanks until blending, allowing for the development of a range of distinctive aroma and flavor components that were ultimately blended to create a bright, layered wine.
