Please note that the J Terrace is now CLOSED for the season and will reopen Spring 2008.

With our soothing summer light, artisanal hand-crafted foods, and lifestyle harmoniously linked to the earth and its seasons, Sonoma County is often compared to Provence. This summer, you are cordially invited to visit us at J Vineyards & Winery for an unparalleled al fresco wine and food experience. After you cross the foot bridge over our lily pond and gardens, drink in the view of the vineyards, our concierge will show you to your table in our comfortably elegant and sophisticated J Terrace. Staff will serve you our signature sparkling wines and classic Russian River varietals, and J’s Executive Chef Mark Caldwell will match the wines with an epicurean presentation of artisanal cheeses, pâtés and cured meats. We feature cheeses from unique local farms including Pugs’ Leap Farms, Jasper Hill Farm and Cowgirl Creamery.

Don’t miss this opportunity to savor summer in J style. The Terrace at J Vineyards & Winery is Sonoma al fresco at its finest.

The J Terrace is open Friday through Monday, 11 am to 4 pm.
$35 per person/ $30 per person for Club J members.
There are no reservation taken for the J Terrace and seating is on a first come first serve basis. Please call 707-431-3646 for more information.

J Terrace Wine & Cheese Pairing Menu - Sample Menu 2007

Featured Wines

2002 J Vintage Brut $32
The 2000 J Brut has tangerine, citrus and pear nuances in its initial aromas. Slightly nutty and toasty characters become evident, leading to a broad, creamy mouth feel with millions of tiny dancing bubbles.

2005 J Chardonnay, Russian River Valley $32
Butterscotch, papaya, mango and white peach aromas are the first to burst from the glass. A complex creaminess greets you on the palate, leading to a mouthfeel lush with honeydew and sweet citrus.

2005 J Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley $32
Bing cherry and plum aromas burst forth. Hints of blackberry, violets, wild fennel, spicy cinnamon, and creamy vanilla round out the bouquet. The finish is full, long and silky with coffee, smoked bacon, warm spice and brown sugar notes.

Featured Charcuterie

Mt. Tam, Cowgirl Creamery
Mt. Tam is a smooth, creamy, elegant, 8-oz, triple-cream - made with tasty organic cow’s milk from the Straus Family Dairy. MT TAM is firm, yet buttery with a mellow, earthy flavor reminiscent of white mushrooms. Contrast the creamy richness with the Brut.

Pug’s Leap Farm Pave
A bright goat milk cheese with honey nuances, this farmstead cheese comes from a local Healdsburg produces who is as fond of goats as they are of pugs! Mellowed by the earthiness of the Pinot Noir.

Winnemere, Jasper Hill Farm
Winnemere is wrapped in Spruce bark and has a lambic-washed rind lending the cheese a nice aroma. The center paste ranges from soft to semi-soft and is full-flavored but balanced. Winnemere is made from Ayreshire cow's milk in small batches and is available generally in the first half the year. Savor this smoky cheese with the richness of our Chardonnay.

Roquefort, Midi-Pyrenees
A classic French cheese. The saltiness is a good foil to the Brut and the creamy earthiness is a beautiful compliment to the Pinot Noir.

Hazelnut and Cognac Pate
Made from a mixture of chicken and pork, this is a rich but clean and mellow pate with a nuttiness that begs for more Chardonnay.

Duck Salami, Fabrique Delices
Once again proving the classics can’t be beat…taste this with our Pinot Noir.

Lomo Curado
Lomo Curado is a dry-cured pork loin that is very popular is Spain as part of a traditional tapas course. Always extremely lean, this cured meat is flavored with garlic, paprika, sugar and other spices, bringing out the full flavor of the pork.
