Pinot Noir is often considered the most difficult of grapes to cultivate; however, no other wine has such rich potential to displays its origins. Only a few spots in the world produce truly exceptional Pinot Noir. Burgundy is one; Russian River Valley is another. J Pinot Noir, Robert Thomas Vineyard - Block 2
Robert Thomas is our 47-acre Estate vineyard adjacent to Westside Road and at the elbow of the Russian River as it rounds a sharp corner and heads west to the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of our coolest vineyards and is comprised of Zamora soil, heavily influenced by millions of years of grinding and washing. The coastal fog and cooler temperatures allow the fruit more considerable time on the vine to develop a rich flavor profile expressing the terroir of this region. Block 2 is squarely in the middle of the property and planted primarily with Rochioli clones.
